About RVA Robotics

Who we are

Founded in 2015 and based in Glen Allen, Virginia, RVA Robotics seeks to promote and expand students’ involvement with robotics in the greater Richmond area and central Virginia. RVA Robotics is a 100% volunteer run non-profit organization exempt from federal income tax under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) 501(c)(3). RVA Robotics has no shareholders, no paid board members, and no employees.

RVA Robotics’ purpose is to promote and/or provide Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education. Robotics encompasses all of these areas, and RVA Robotics uses robotics to:

  • Sponsor, host, and/or participate in educational events and activities that promote STEM education and/or robotics in general;
  • Promote STEM education, including through the use of robotics, to schools, other organizations and/or the general public;
  • Provide STEM education, including through the use of robotics, to students in grades K-12 as well as post-secondary students.

RVA Robotics is sincere about getting as many students involved with robotics as possible and has been working closely with the Robotics Education and Competition Foundation (RECF) to promote the VEX VRC and VEX IQ robot platforms at numerous events, including the NASA Wallops Flight Facility 70th Anniversary celebration and numerous events around the Richmond area.
